A coordinated bombing of three different courts has occurred in the politically charged South-South state of Rivers, the state police command has said.
A high court was bombed in Port Harcourt, the state capital, while two others were similarly attacked in Degema and Isiokpo, police said.
Details of the bombings as well as casualty figure are still however sketchy.
News of the attacks on the courts came a week after suspected political thugs attacked members of the All Progressives Congress [APC], who were setting up equipment and canopies for a scheduled political rally. The location was later bombed.
That attack on the APC came a week after a secretariat of the party at Ngo community in Andoni Local Government Area of the state was bombed.
Five days before then, an APC office in Okrika Local Government Area of the state was attacked with dynamites.
Okrika is the home of Nigeria’s First Lady Mrs Patience Jonathan.
The spectre of political violence in the state began in early January when some supporters of the APC in Rivers State were shot on their way to attend their party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Port Harcourt.
More to come…
