A study by Transparency International, a
global watchdog, has revealed that the most corrupt political parties in
the world exist in Nigeria.
The organisation’s international
corruption barometer said about 94 per cent of Nigerians opined in the
study that political parties in the country were affected by corruption.
TI made the revelation in a graph titled:
“Where most people think political parties are corrupt” published on
its Twitter account earlier on Thursday.
Nigeria finished at the top with a
whopping 94 per cent, closely trailed by Mexico and Cyprus with 91 per
cent while Spain with 83 per cent, was at the bottom.
The global corruption watchdog in a
statement on its website, expressed concern over the shift in election
dates, saying the postponement threatens the country’s democracy. The
organisation further called for safety for voters during the polls that
have now been moved to March 28 and April 11.
