The Egyptian Football Association has announced that it has taken
the decision to close the stadium to the fans for the rest of 2014/15
league season.
The decision comes in the wake of the death of 22 people before the
Zamalek and ENPPI match due to clashes between Zamalek fans and
policemen.
The Egyptian football governing body allowed fans to attend matches
starting from the second round of the Egyptian league last week after
months of behind-closed door matches due to the violence that led to the
death of at least 74 people, mostly Al Ahly fans, in Port Said in 2012.
After an extraordinary meeting held on Sunday night, the Egypt FA
decided that all league matches be played behind closed doors for the
rest of this season.
"We held a meeting and decided no more fans in the Egyptian
competitions after the sad events," EFA board member Mahmoud Al Shami
said.
The Egypt FA is still awaiting a decision from the country's
government on the latest football violence that has claimed 22 lives.
